We are proud to announce that Michael Rosenberg has been selected to receive a 2017 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Fellowship. This was a very competitive fellowship application, and it will fund Michael’s PhD for the next two years. We look forward to seeing his upcoming work and growth as a researcher. Jessica Zistatsis and team were awarded a $5,000 prize for winning 3rd at UW’s Hollomon Health Innovation Challenge.
PlayGait, their device’s name, was developed for children with difficulties walking that helps them move around and rebuild muscles.

Jessica Zistatsis applied to the 11th Annual Science and Technology Showcase (STS) to present the pediatric exoskeleton, PlayGait, she is developing for her master’s project. PlayGait received a financial reward for best marketing strategy and took 2nd place overall! Congratulations, Jessica!
Jessica Zistatsis awarded Mechanical Engineering Fellowship
Congratulations to Jessica for being acknowledged by the Department of Mechanical Engineering for her academic achievements and potential for success within her masters studies.
Jessica is dedicated to creating a pediatric exoskeleton which promotes improved walking patterns during daily life, outside of therapy sessions. This fellowship will allow Jessica to devote more time towards her research and studies. Congrats!
ME Capstone Project Awarded Grant for Pediatric Medical Device Innovation
A UW Mechanical Engineering capstone team‘s project has been awarded a grant to continue the development of a pediatric exoskeleton. The team collaborated with physical therapists at Seattle Children’s Hospital to develop their prototype and entered into the 2016 Target Challenge grant competition.
New England Pediatric Device Consortium (NEPDC) and the Center for Translation of Rehabilitation Engineering Advances and Technology (TREAT) Award $150K between four Medical Device Innovator teams.
We are pleased to announce Jessica Zistasis, a member of the capstone team, will join our lab to pursue this project and further its development for her MS.
